Loving Me

image

This was inspired by a quote that Just Plain ‘Ol Vic posted earlier today.

“Stop hating yourself for everything you aren’t. Start loving yourself for everything you are.”

It prompted me to write myself a letter on why I love me. I decided to share it and maybe encourage others to do the same.
Physically,  I love my eyes, my nose, my smile.  I love the shape of my body, regardless of the weight I am at, all my curves in all of the right places.  I love my hands and my feet and toes.  I love my “perfect” legs (as my gram used to call them).  I love my hips and the way they move to the rhythm of good music.
Mentally, I love my brain, the way I think, the way I see things and try to see things from different angles, different points of view.  I love the way my thoughts flow onto paper. That I can wrote in a poetic way.  The way I day dream and close my eyes to see pictures.  My analytical self, my mathematical self and my realistic self.  But I also love my day dreamy, creative self.
I love my heart, that I can see and find the good in people.  I love that I am trusting,  that I give people a chance. Yes I may have been taken advantage of before but I have learned to let that go.  It doesn’t mean that I do it again or continue to trust them.  It means that I forgive and move on.  I realize that the people who try to hurt me with their lies and manipulation are truly the ones hurting.  I am learning to love my vulnerability. I was so scared to show it for so long but now I am embracing it, along with my sensitivity.  These are the things that make me who I am and I don’t want to be anyone else.
I am proud of who I am. A loving mother, sister, daughter, friend, cousin.  Not perfect but perfectly flawed and made into the woman I am today.  Yes I’ve made mistakes,  I’ve been hurt, lied to and taken advantage of.  But overall, I am loved by many and the ones that are still around are the ones that matter.  The rest have lived through their reason, their season and have made me stronger.
Yes I am woman….RAWR!!!  and I love me!

Party Time

Since I started writing more I have been cooking less.  Well this weekend I was in party mode.  I’m usually very social and even through the winter I will have dinner parties and get togethers.  I haven’t done much of anything but hibernate since the holidays ended.  This weekend I planned a family get together to celebrate my son’s birthday, plus my great niece will be 5 this coming week so I figured why not have cake for both birthdays.

My son with my great nieces

I love my family.  Sure, they can drive me crazy but I love them anyways. Family are the ones who really know you, like every side of you.  Angry, sad, happy, silly, they see it all!  I have been blessed to live close to my family my whole life.  In fact, sometimes too close, as we all shared a duplex for a few years.  But since separating off on our own ways, I began to miss them.  I especially miss my nephew who recently moved to Texas with his dad.  And even more recently, like the past two weeks, my sister moved out to Colorado.  So our family events have been shrinking and it’s made me more aware of just how lucky I am to have a close family.
My parents were blessed to have three beautiful daughters, or as we like to call ourselves,  Charlie’s Angels, because my dad is Charles.  They also have 5 gorgeous grandchildren and 2 adorable great grandchildren.

My niece and her girls

I spent a good portion of my weekend cleaning and preparing for the party.  I was in cooking mode once again.  My niece requested butter finger cheesecake bars and of course she knew I couldn’t say no.  Plus I wanted to make cupcakes, although 3 dozen may have been a bit much for only 12 of us including the kids, but like I said I was in cooking mode!

image

There had to be pink because, like most 5 year old girls, that is Ny’s (my great niece) favorite color!  And even though my son is now 18, he is secure enough in his manhood as to not discriminate nor be intimidated by pink cupcakes with sprinkles.  Don’t forget, he’s a Valentine’s baby!

image

I also made a spinach pie and a couple of pizzas from scratch, including my son’s favorite buffalo chicken pizza.  Yes, I make my own pizza dough.  Bacon wrapped chicken bites were another favorite appetizer and I threw together a cilantro slaw because we needed something healthy to balance out the sugar fest!
The party was to start at 3pm, but like any other event my family has, no one showed up until about 4pm, including my son.  A friend of mine came with his wife and their son, who happened to have his 2nd birthday this past week as well, so we celebrated 3 Aquarian birthdays.  My son’s girlfriend also came to the party and as you can see by the photos, everyone enjoyed the cupcakes!

image

I got my cooking fix in and now I’m ready for a cleanse, or at least some light healthy eating this week.  Although, the one thing about cooking is that you often aren’t as hungry once you finish making the food.  However,  I definitely snuck in a taste or two while frosting cupcakes and slicing dessert bars.  My body is definitely feeling like it’s time for some serious veggies!
Over all it was great to spend an afternoon celebrating birthdays and just being with family.

My Beautiful Surprise

Happy Birthday Pooky

Whatever it is that you came to teach me
I am here to learn it ’cause I believe that we are written in the stars
I don’t know what the future holds but I’m living in the moment
And I’m thankful for the man that you are, you are, you are

When you think of Valentine’s day you think of love, chocolates, roses and teddy bears.  When I think of Valentine’s day, I think of love too.  The love of my life.  The one who makes me smile, gives me reason to be a better person and the greatest Valentine’s gift I have ever received.  18 years ago today I was in labor with this beautiful baby boy.  I was young and scared and in pain.  I had no idea he would change my life forever.
I remember when his born the first words his father said to me, “he looks just like you… he’s crying!” Lol Hey, what can I say, pregnancy messes with a woman’s hormones!  I remember feeling relieved that the labor and the wait was over.  I remember the first time he was placed in my arms and being overwhelmed with the amazing gift of love like I had never known before.
People tell you time and time again to enjoy the moments because life goes by so fast.  You say, “oh yeah!  I know!” But then one day you wake up and wonder where in the heck did all those years go??  They really do sneak by when you’re not looking.
I still can’t believe my baby is 18 today.  As much as it scares me that he is officially an adult today, I’m proud of the man he is becoming.  I know this is just the beginning of the next phase of his life.  I know nothing will really change overnight. He will always be my baby boy, my pooky bear and my beautiful surprise.
My song for him since the first time I heard it has been Beautiful Surprise.  Plus a love of India Arie’s music is something we share.  So happy Valentine’s day to all and happy birthday to my little Romeo, my favorite Valentine, my Pooky bear and my beautiful surprise.

Lyrics to Beautiful Surprise found on goggle play

It’s like yesterday I didn’t even know your name
Now today you’re always on my mind
I never could have predicted that I’d feel this way
You are a beautiful surprise

Intoxicated every time I hear your voice
You’ve got me on a natural high
It’s almost like I didn’t even have a choice
You are a beautiful surprise

Whatever it is that you came to teach me
I am here to learn it ’cause I believe that we are written in the stars
I don’t know what the future holds but I’m living in the moment
And I’m thankful for the man that you are, you are, you are

You are everything I ask for in my prayers
So I know my angels brought you to my life
Your energy is healing to my soul, you are a beautiful surprise
You are an inspiration to my life, you are the reason why I smile
You are a beautiful surprise

For Always and Forever

You will be my Saturday Love…

“When I look at you
Memories of love
Like no one before
You stay on my mind”

We all have that one person like this.  That one person that maybe you always had a thing for but it never quite worked out.  Maybe the timing was off.  They were single and you were taken, then they were taken and you were single.  Or maybe you did date them, maybe it was a first love, a young love, or just a Saturday love.
Mine was actually more of a Sunday love.  Ok, it wasn’t really love, but I sure was crushing on him.  We would go to the same spot every Sunday and I knew I would run into him there.  He was a bit older than me and there was just something about him.  Maybe it was the eyes, or the smile, or the way he would rearrange the tables in the middle of the room to create a dance floor for us on a Sunday afternoon.  It could have been the way he made me forget my cares and who was watching and just act a fool in the middle of the bar.  It could have been the silly jokes and faces, the way he made me laugh, and the fun I always had when I was around him.
I’m not sure how we fell out of touch but then again, we never really had anything more than those Sunday afternoons.  Years later I would run into him and find out the truth.  That I was young and naive and he had a love the whole time.  A love of addiction to drugs and alcohol.  He had turned his life around but I knew he had really never felt for me the way I felt for him.  And maybe I never really felt for him, but more for the idea of him.  The idea of who I thought he was and who I wanted him to be.
Every now and again I wonder what he’s up to and if he is still around.  I looked him up one day not too long ago to see he is now married.  In my mind though, For always and forever, he will be my Sunday love.

Alexander O’Neal and Cherrelle knew all about that.  Why, just check out the video here of Saturday Love.  Rather fitting, isn’t it?

(But my real Saturday Love is my girl Chanel.  She is my son’s and She was my roll dawg back when we were younger and would go out.  Had to throw that in)

And as always see the lyrics below.

Going to see you again
See you haven’t changed
It’s good to see you anyway

Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday
Thursday, Friday, Saturday love
Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday
Thursday, Friday, Saturday love

Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday
Thursday, Friday, Saturday love
Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday
Thursday, Friday, Saturday love

When I think about you
My feelings can’t explain
Why after all this time
My heart still feels pain

When I look at you
Memories of love
Like no one before
You’ll stay on my mind

(Special feelings, special time)
Always so special
(I was yours and you were mine)
Made for each other

(All the good I won’t forget)
You will stay on my mind
(Saturday, the day we met)

For always and for ever
You will be my Saturday love

Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday
Thursday, Friday, Saturday love
Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday
Thursday, Friday, Saturday love

Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday
Thursday, Friday, Saturday love
Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday
Thursday, Friday, Saturday love

When I think about you
My feelings can’t explain
Why after all this time
My heart still feels pain

When I look at you
Memories of love
Like no one before
You stay on my mind
(Special feelings, special times)
Feeling so special
(I was yours and you were mine)
Made for each other, girl

(All the good I won’t forget)
Staying on my mind, girl
(Saturday, the day we met)
Girl, you know I can’t leave you behind

There’s never any question
You will be my Saturday love

Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday
Thursday, Friday, Saturday love
Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday
Thursday, Friday, Saturday love

Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday
Thursday, Friday, Saturday love
Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday
Thursday, Friday, Saturday love

Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday
Thursday, Friday, Saturday love
Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday
Thursday, Friday, Saturday love

Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday
Thursday, Friday, Saturday love
Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday
Thursday, Friday, Saturday love

When I look at you
Special feelings, special times
I thought we’d always be together
But sometimes things just
Don’t work out like we planned

Life goes on and people grow
Out of things that fit before
But Saturday remains the same
And I hope it’ll never change

For always and forever
You will be my, you will be my
You will be, be my Saturday love
Let’s sing it together

Never on Sunday, Monday’s too soon
Tuesday and Wednesday just won’t do
Thursday and Friday, we can begin
But our Saturday love will never end, sugar

Pure Poetry

The count down is on til Valentine’s day.  That’s right, just two days and my baby boy, my “pooky bear” will be 18 years old.  So I’m sticking with my theme of posting songs by black artists for black history and incorporating love quotes from songs.
Last night I was looking for a song to post and I really wanted a good classic song.  I looked through so many and contemplated many more.  There is just so much good stuff out there! Of course in my opinion the best is the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s R&B.  Maybe some 2000’s,  too.  Then again that’s just my preference.
I decided on the Isley Brothers.  I love the soothing sounds of their tunes.  From Between the Sheets to Foot Steps in the Dark.  But for love songs I felt like  Living For the Love of You was the best choice for the occasion.
Did you ever notice that sometimes you sing a song, you know the lyrics, but you never quite pay attention?  That’s kind of how I felt reading the lyrics last night.   Especially when they say

” Love to be right in the waves
Of your love enchanted with a touch
And it seems to me
We could sail together
In and out of mystery”

I never really realized how poetic some lines are.  Now it may seem kind of obvious, but for some reason last night it just hit me.  These men are poets! Then you think of all the sounds and instruments that go into putting a song together.  Plus you have to have the right voice to sing it.  I guess I just really realized the amount of work and talent that goes into music.  I found a new and greater appreciation for it.
Hope you all enjoy the soothing sounds of this song and don’t forget to check out the lyrics and poetry of this song below.  TGIF ya’ll.

The Isley Brothers “For The Love Of You” lyrics

Yeah, well, well, well
Yeah, yeah, hey, hey

Driftin’ on a memory
Ain’t no place I’d rather be
Then with you, yeah
Lovin’ you, well, well, well

Day will make a way for night
All we’ll need is candle lights
And a song, yeah
Soft and long, well

Glad to be here alone
With a lover unlike no other
Sad to see a new horizon
Slowly comin’ into view, yeah

I wanna be living for the love of you
Ah, yes I am
All that I’m giving is for the love of you
Alright now

Lovely as a ray of sun
That touches me when the mornin’ comes
Feels good to me, yeah
My love and me, well

Smoother than a gentle breeze
Flowin’ through my mind with ease
Soft as can be, well
When you’re lovin’ me
When you’re lovin’ me

Love to be right in the waves
Of your love enchanted with a touch
And it seems to me
We could sail together
In and out of mystery

Well, I wanna be living, for the love of you
Alright now
All that I’m giving, is for the love of you
You got me, girl

I wanna be living, for the love of you
Alright now
All that I’m giving, givin’ is for the love of you
Oh, yes I am

Paradise I have within
Can’t feel insecure again
You’re the key
Well, and this I see
Oh, I see

Now and then I lose my way
Using words that try to say
What I feel, yeah, love is real
Oh, love is real

I might as well sign my name
On a card which could say it better
Time will tell ’cause it seems
That I done just about all that I can do

I know that I’m livin’, for the love of you
Oh, yes I am
I know that I’m livin’, for the love, love of you
Every, everyday I, livin’, for the love of you

I’m living, for the love
Each and every day, oh yes I do
I’m gonna say it one more time

Said, “I’m living, for the love
Each and every day, oh”
Lord, Lord knows I am right, right now
Said that, “I’m livin’ for the love”

I’m Curious…

So I was trying to figure out what song I wanted to share today.  It was hard after listening to Stevie for the past 24 hours! I have a tendency to do that though.  You know, when you listen to some song or artist you haven’t been listening to lately and then you just can’t get enough of them?  Well,  I have a feeling the next 24 hours may include some Midnight Star.

I can’t say I grew up listening to them, not until I became a teenager and met my first “real” boyfriend (later to become the father of my son).  I remember riding in the car with his family after a day at the beach and this song came on.

I fell in love with it.  Aside from the chorus, I always loved this line:

“Love is a gamble I wanna take with you
I wanna win girl, so let me know what’s on your mind”

A few years back I bought the CD so I could pass these songs on to my son.  I mean, you have to teach these youngins good music!!  My son and I have spent many car rides singing along to hits like Wet My WhistleMidas TouchNo Parking On The Dance FloorFreakazoid and Operator.  But, I have to say it was Curious that I fell in love with first.  Let me know if I forgot one of your favorites, as I’m sure I left one out.

Happy Thursday…we’re almost there.

Curious – Lyrics
I really gotta have you,
Cos what my body feels I can’t take away.
And you are so exciting,
That you take my breath away.
So get ready and let me love you
I got the answer right here beside me girl
Love is a gamble I wanna take with you
I wanna win girl, so let me know what’s on your mind
I’m curious (about your loving)
I’m curious (I wanna know what’s on your mind)
I’m curious (about your loving girl)
I’m curious (I wanna know what’s on your mind)
We should get it together
Cos right now girl this feeling’s strong
And I’m anticipating
I wanna know (I wanna know)
What turns you on
Lovely lady here’s my intentions
I’ve got to have you right here beside me girl
Love is a gamble I wanna take with you
I wanna win girl, so let me know what’s on you mind
I’m curious (about your loving)
I’m curious (I wanna know what’s on your mind)
I’m curious (about your loving girl)
I’m curious (I wanna know what’s on your mind)
Lovely lady heres my intentions
I’ve got to have you right here beside me girl
Love is a gamble I wanna take with you
I wanna win girl, so let me know what’s on you mind
I’m curious (about your loving)
I’m curious (I wanna know what’s on your mind)
I’m curious (about your lovin’, girl)
I’m curious (I wanna know what’s on your mind)

Day 3 – 3 Day Quote Challenge

This is Day 3 of the 3 Day Quote Challenge (with a twist).  Today I chose a song by Tracy Chapman.  I have been a fan of her since the 80’s.  My older sisters had her first cassette tape back in the day.  I love Tracy’s music because all of her songs have purpose.  They have a message or a story and this woman has something to say! Tracy speaks on love, but also about political issues, domestic abuse and racism.  My sister’s may have had the first album and got me interested in her music, but I owned every album after.  I also waited all day to see her in concert, it was a standing room only event so I made sure I was first in line to get the front row.  I love so many of her song, but I picked “At This Point In My Life.”

You see when I’ve touched the sky
The earth’s gravity has pulled me down
But now I’ve reconciled that in this world
Birds and angels get the wings to fly
If you can believe in this heart of mine
If you can give it a try
Then I’ll reach inside and find and give you
All the sweetness that I have

There isn’t a real video on youtube but you can listen to the song here:

I’m really enjoying this challenge so I may continue this up until Valentine’s day. However, these will be the last 3 nominations below.

At This Point In My Life Lyrics

Done so many things wrong I don’t know if I can do right
Oh I, Oh I’ve
Done so many things wrong I don’t know if I can do right

At this point in my life
I’ve done so many things wrong I don’t know if I can do right
If you put your trust in me I hope I won’t let you down
If you give me a chance I’ll try

You see it’s been a hard road the road I’m traveling on
And if I take your hand I might lead you down the path to ruin
I’ve had a hard life I’m just saying it so you’ll understand
That right now, right now, I’m doing the best I can
At this point in my life

At this point in my life
Although I’ve mostly walked in the shadows
I’m still searching for the light
Won’t you put your faith in me
We both know that’s what matters
If you give me a chance I’ll try

You see I’ve been climbing stairs but mostly stumbling down
I’ve been reaching high always losing ground
You see I’ve been reaching high but always losing ground
You see I’ve conquered hills but I still have mountains to climb
And right now right now I’m doing the best I can
At this point in my life

Before we take a step
Before we walk down that path
Before I make any promises
Before you have regrets
Before we talk commitment
Let me tell you of my past
All I’ve seen and all I’ve done
The things I’d like to forget
At this point in my life

At this point in my life
I’d like to live as if only love mattered
As if redemption was in sight
As if the search to live honestly
Is all that anyone needs
No matter if you find it

You see when I’ve touched the sky
The earth’s gravity has pulled me down
But now I’ve reconciled that in this world
Birds and angels get the wings to fly
If you can believe in this heart of mine
If you can give it a try
Then I’ll reach inside and find and give you
All the sweetness that I have
At this point in my life
At this point in my life

Monday Morning

It’s amazing how music can take us back to a time and a place.  Good or bad.  Happy or sad.  I can hear a song and suddenly I sit back and close my eyes and I’m walking barefoot in the sand on a chilly October day.  Toes going numb but only because I love the feel of the sand between my toes.  The freedom from being without the restrictive socks and shoes.  My feet can breathe.  I’m alone, contemplating life, love, and writing.  I’m on a beach, somewhere in a park.  A place I found by chance on one of my rides I took to clear my mind.  No destination.  No idea where I really am.  Just exploring the roads, exploring nature, dreams and thoughts.  Exploring the me inside.  The one I can share, but no one will fully understand because I choose what I show you.  I choose the thoughts I share.  Be it silly or crazy to someone else.  I choose what you see of me.
Just the turn of the knob, click of a button and I am transported once again.  To a beautiful clearing in the woods, overlooking a fresh flowing spring, a waterfall, him, holding my hand.  His smile, making me smile, overwhelming feelings of joy and happiness.  His eyes, looking into mine, reminding me of why all the others that came, could not stay.  Reminding me of all the lessons learned and all the rough patches along the journey that led to him.  Divine timing.  Him and I swimming in the waters, cool and refreshing.  Him, wrapping me in his arms, feeling safe and secure.  His off key singing in my ear, making me giggle, loving every moment with him.  And then the moment that last note hits and silence.  I open my eyes, look around, snap out of it.  I’m back to reality.  I’m home, alone, sitting on the couch.  Journal in one hand and pen in the other.
It’s Monday morning again.  Shake it off, finish my cup of coffee, and get ready for work.  Thankful to know I can always play that song again, when I want to return.

Day 2 – Love Quotes

So it is day 2 of the Love quotes by Black Artists.  I have picked another song with the same title.  That’s right, The Truth.  This one is by India Arie.  One of my favorites lines….

There ain’t no substitute for the truth
Either it is or it isn’t
‘Cause he is the truth
You see the truth it needs no proof
Either it is or it isn’t
‘Cause he is the truth
And you know the truth by the way it feels

The Truth
I just relate to this because we all know when something isn’t right. When something feels wrong, we always have that gut feeling.

Today I nominate the following 3 bloggers:

My random musings

I have also copied the lyrics to this song below.

Let me tell you why I love him

Cause he is the truth
Said he is so real
And I love the way that he makes me feel
And if I am a reflection of him
Then I must be fly
Cause his light, it shines so bright
I wouldn’t lie, no

I remember the very first day that I saw him
I found myself immediately intrigued by him
It’s almost like I knew this man from another life
Like back then maybe I was his husband
Maybe he was my wife
And even the things I don’t like about him are fine with me
Cause it’s not hard for me to understand him
Cause he’s so much like me
And it’s truly my pleasure to share his company
And I know it’s God’s gift to breathe the air he breathes

Cause he is the truth
Said he is so real
And I love the way that he makes me feel
And if I am a reflection of him
Then I must be fly
Because his light, it shines so bright
I wouldn’t lie, no

Oh
How can the same man that makes me so mad
(do you know what he did??)
Turn right around and kiss me so soft
(girl, you know what he did?)
If he ever left me I wouldn’t even be sad, no
‘Cause there’s a blessing in every lesson
And I’m glad that I know him at all

Cause he is the truth
Said he is so real
And I love the way that he makes me feel
And if I am a reflection of him
Then I must be fly
Because his light, it shines so bright

I love the way he speaks
I love the way he thinks
I love the way that he treats his mama
I love that gap in between his teeth
Love him in every way that a woman can love a man
From personal
To universal
But most of all it’s unconditional
You know what I’m talking about?

That’s the way I feel
And I always will
There ain’t no substitute for the truth
Either it is or it isn’t
‘Cause he is the truth
You see the truth it needs no proof
Either it is or it isn’t
‘Cause he is the truth
And you know the truth by the way it feels
And if I am a reflection of him
Then I must be fly
Because he is, yes he is (fly, light, bright)
I wonder does he know

3 Day quote challenge with a twist!

So I was nominated by Tikeetha for the 3 day quote.  I follow her blog and I really enjoy it, check her out!  She did love quotes and I think I am going to switch it up and incorporate Black History Month and Valentine’s Day for this.  I’m also going to take quotes from song lyrics because, hey, love songs have great quotes too!  So each day I will post a song, highlight the line I love and post the video as well.  They will all be love songs by Black artists for Black History month.  Then I will nominate 3 bloggers each day to do the same.  (Only you can just post quotes, nothing fancy.  Although I think they should either pertain to love for Valentine’s day or they should pertain to Black History Month…but that’s my two cents)

So the first Quote is from one of my favorite Black Male artists, Anthony Hamilton.  If you don’t know him, you should definintly check him out.  I love his voice, his music, and his lyrics.  One of my favorite songs by him is called “The Truth”.   See the video here:
The Truth
My favorite line from this song is

” Compromise, try and see eye to eye,

Cause love’s not blind, it knows when you care”

This is so true.  I hope you enjoy this song.  Also, if you are interested you can find the lyrics below.

I nominate the following 3 bloggers for the 3 Day Quote Challenge. All you have to do is post a quote for 3 days and each day you nominate 3 other bloggers to post a quote.

So look for another love song, quote and Black Artist tomorrow.  Oh and check out the lyrics below. 😆

“The Truth”

You must feel safe when you fall in love
Equal in the time you and I share together
Compromise, try and see eye to eye
Cause love’s not blind, it knows when you care
Always kiss your lady, tell her that you love her,
Pray and make a baby, that was made to love
Show her she’s important, bring flowers for her,
And build on the truth (build on the truth)

If you take a little walk with me (walk with me)
Girl I’ll lead you to the truth (girl, I’ll lead you, lead you)
And if you never give up on me (give up on me)
Girl, I’ll share it all with you (Girl, I’ll share it all)
Show directions when I’ve lost my way (lost my way)
I’ll be around to stay (I’ll be around) to show you the truth, truth

If you trust me, I’ll make sure to build you up, through all your dreams
You and I will go together
Forget your past, the love you had that never last
God knew your heart and I was made for you
Girl, I won’t mistreat you, never
Always make love to you
Go to church together, even get baptized too
We can read the bible (read the bible)
Play mom father
This marriage is true (oh)

If you take a little walk with me (walk with me)
Girl I’ll lead you to the truth (girl, I’ll lead you, lead you)
And if you never give up on me (give up on me)
Girl, I’ll share it all with you (Girl, I’ll share it all)
Show directions when I’ve lost my way (lost my way)
I’ll be around to stay (I’ll be around) to show you the truth, truth (x2)
