Pure Poetry

The count down is on til Valentine’s day.  That’s right, just two days and my baby boy, my “pooky bear” will be 18 years old.  So I’m sticking with my theme of posting songs by black artists for black history and incorporating love quotes from songs. 
Last night I was looking for a song to post and I really wanted a good classic song.  I looked through so many and contemplated many more.  There is just so much good stuff out there! Of course in my opinion the best is the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s R&B.  Maybe some 2000’s,  too.  Then again that’s just my preference. 
I decided on the Isley Brothers.  I love the soothing sounds of their tunes.  From Between the Sheets to Foot Steps in the Dark.  But for love songs I felt like  Living For the Love of You was the best choice for the occasion. 
Did you ever notice that sometimes you sing a song, you know the lyrics, but you never quite pay attention?  That’s kind of how I felt reading the lyrics last night.   Especially when they say

” Love to be right in the waves
Of your love enchanted with a touch
And it seems to me
We could sail together
In and out of mystery”

I never really realized how poetic some lines are.  Now it may seem kind of obvious, but for some reason last night it just hit me.  These men are poets! Then you think of all the sounds and instruments that go into putting a song together.  Plus you have to have the right voice to sing it.  I guess I just really realized the amount of work and talent that goes into music.  I found a new and greater appreciation for it.
